If you’re wondering what life lately has been all about… Finally starting to get into the habit of working out, even just a little bit. Appreciating the love and support I get from Gab. Eurotrip planning. Working from bed, an ultimate perk. Watching sunsets. Making calls. Decluttering. Dyeing my hair back to dark ash brown. Putting up photos on my wall. Snapchats. Free days to prioritize personal affairs over work — my favorite kind of week. Getting my U.S. visa. (valid for 10 years!) & a postcard from Aileen all the way from Brussels. Chubby Mr. Gray making me wish I could have a pet cat. Getting my dose of artsy-fartsy in the form of sketching + watercolor. Having a good cry + realizations of what truly means to me and what doesn’t. Make-up as a form of therapy. Instant Crush on repeat. Finally investing my hard earned cash on a MacBook Pro. Visiting my family back home and just enjoying their company Really late nights.

My Tuesday @ Wildflour

It’s 11:20 am when I get out of my Uber car and walk towards Wildflour where I’m supposed to meet Aby, a longtime online friend of mine, for the first time; and Bea another longtime online friend of mine who I’ve met only once back in 2010. I’m the first one there. I give the hostess our reservation name hoping she would quickly usher me to our table because the summer heat was starting to get unbearable. Most days, I find myself cooped up in my bedroom where I don’t have to suffer the immense heat outside, making sure I don’t step out unless absolutely necessary. The upside is that I mostly work from home anyway. She finally tells me our table is ready, and I follow her steps as I make my way around the maze of chairs and tables full of people already midway through their meals. I’m way early, and they’re a little late. Aby texts me updates of where she is and how she’d gotten into accidental cardio walking from her building to Wildflour. I joked that I must be German, on account of me always being too early. Even my agency jokes that I’m too early […]

Life lately has been all about… Meeting new people Out of town trips Work, work, work Conversations that make you realize the importance of being in the moment Finding the importance of selfies (seriously!) Disconnecting from social media Disconnecting from people Changing pace, sceneries Appreciating the feeling of sand between my toes Deciding to be an adult about certain things Shamelessly going after what I want Learning the value of “under promising, over delivering” Making things happen Dinner dates despite being poor (yes, Gab and I are too “poor” from saving for our Eurotrip) Impromptu shoots in a bathroom Scandal & Orange is the New Black marathons Never ending Eurotrip planning I don’t know if anyone has really noticed but I’ve not only fallen behind on blogging, but have slightly been MIA on social media as well. I think there was a whole week when I got back from Guam where I barely bothered with my social media accounts, and the week after that I tried really hard to get back into it but couldn’t. I don’t know what has been up with me lately… I’ve had these slumps before but I think this recent one has been by far […]

Life Lately: In Which I’m Social & Fall Sick

Life lately has been all about… Seeing old friends Spontaneous decisions 3 AM anti-hangover snacks Recharging through a long warm bath 12 Monkeys + local music Lions & Acrobats Bed rearrangements Dealing with ceiling leaks (our condo maintenance is shit) Rainy weather means working + eating in bed Scout House Party Black Market // Finders Keepers Falling sicker each day Doctors visits, pain killers, antibiotics & self-medicating Getting domesticated with Gab BuzzFeed videos until 4 AM The past week was probably the most I’ve been social in a while. I’m actually quite a homebody that a lot of my friends poke fun at the fact that I identify myself as a wild spirit yet hardly go out to have fun and hang out… They don’t get that identifying myself with “wild spirit” does not equate to someone who actually goes out to go wild. Haha. I’ve also fallen quite sick, first with a weird random ear infection (I’ve had swimmers ear years and years ago, and apparently once you’ve had an ear infection it can always come back) due to excessive ear cleaning and now I’ve come down with a virus, which I have gotten from Gab. Going back to […]

Life Lately: A Day by Day Recap

Usually my Life Lately posts are just a series of random phrases from what occurred during the week… I felt like trying something different, something close to how I used to blog during my Tumblr days, before I even really cared about producing “quality” content and just curating my entire blog with it. I miss writing about the mundane stuff in detail, so I’m doing that for this week’s post to recap the week I just had. Maybe I’ll keep writing it this way, or go back to the more cryptic short stuff. Who knows? But anyway, here’s what life lately is like for me: Monday: I find Mondays to always somehow turn out to be my errand day. I ran around to do errands with Gab, visited DFA South for my birth certificate authentication, had my last underarm LHR session at Wink Laser Studio (so far so good, hair is visibly gone — we’ll see in two months if they ever grow back!), bought new watercolor paintbrushes because I lost my old ones, and then I went home and spent the entire night doing watercolour exercises. Tuesday: I woke up relatively late, so I got to the NBI Clearance […]

French Classes, Catching up with Friends, Eating Lots of Food

Monday: I started the week rushing to my first Intensive French class at Alliance Francais. The entire 3 and a half hours flew by and I have to admit I felt a little like Hermione for knowing a lot from the first lesson. I guess all my attempts to learn French on my own the past few years paid off. Gab picked me up after class and we had a quick lunch at Burger King before stopping by H&M and Forever 21 to do a wee bit of shopping. It’s 4 months before our 4 year anniversary, too! Tuesday: Our French class included learning how to say the masculine/feminine versions of each nationality, introduction to verbs, and counting from 1-60. After what seemed like three hours of my brain feeling like turning into mush, I went off to have lunch with Sherica and Jaya at Sweet X. I had a really messy burger and freakin’ good fries… I’m sad to say I couldn’t finish them even though I normally eat a lot. I went home afterwards to have a quick afternoon nap before spending the night reviewing my French lessons. I’m not a very studious person but I’ll have myself from […]

A Week in the Life: Vlog #1

I’m so excited to have started vlogging on YouTube! It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for so long and now I’m taking the time to start, just in time for my Eurotrip next month! I also really like that vlogs are a different way to show you guys what my life is like through audio and visual, because I find that blog posts are just worlds different! My apologies for crappy video/audio quality because I was experimenting between the iPhone and my Fujifilm X-A2. I’ve decided to invest in a vlogging camera which I’m buying tomorrow. I’m so excited! :D I hope you guys enjoy the vlog, and I’m so happy to finally start a new chapter in blogging — I hope you stick around for the changes because I would really love it if you would! Stay wild, stay curious, keep exploring. I love you, my Wildlings! <3

Camie & Gab Take Europe: Exploring Paris

Paris will be a city that I’ll probably find myself visiting time and time again, if not live in. Gab, on the other hand, never really understood why I loved Paris so much, or why I dreamed of living there in the future (actually, I dream of living anywhere in France in the future. Paris just made my top choice because it’s the first French city I’ve explored twice) but after the six days we spent there, Gab changed his mind completely. Paris became one of his favorite cities out of all the 9 we visited. It’s safe to say he even liked it better than London, and let me tell you, he was hell bent on visiting London and the 5 days we were going to spend there was completely his part of the trip, it was the first reason why this Eurotrip even happened in the first place. In the six days, we spent a lot of time exploring the city on foot, eating pastries, visiting our favorite Franprix near the flat to stock up on some junk food. We put no pressure on ourselves to visit each of the famous monuments, just seeing them was good enough. […]

Photo Diary: A Weekday Getaway

Ever since I came home from my two month stay in France, I’ve been craving a little bit of calmness, quiet and nature. You see, living in France for those two months, even though I was in the city, was still a constant getaway. There was calmness. There was quiet. There was nature. I loved that kind of life and I got used to it rather quickly. I never missed the big city that is Metro Manila, I never missed any of the traffic, the unbearable pollution, the chaos — I mean, who in their right mind would? It couldn’t possibly be at all healthy for you physically, mentally and emotionally — but this was my reality, and a weekday getaway was the best we could do to get away from it all, even if for two nights only. On the early morning of Thursday, Gab and I packed up the car with our bags of clothes, some groceries, my portable vinyl player and some old and new records to listen to. The night before we caught the last screening of The Revenant with his family, so we got home pretty late. We usually aim to leave for the beach by 4-5AM, […]

An Afternoon at La Maripili with my new 35mm Lens

Work date lunches is our thing. Gab and I will pick a cafe, have some lunch, coffee, and dessert, all while getting some work done. We’ll sit in silence for hours, only chatting here and there to make comments about the food, or the place, or the people, or ask each other random questions that pop into our heads. He’ll work on his novel, I’ll work on my blog. It’s the best way we get some productivity done while we’re together, which is all the time. A few days ago, Gab told me about a new cafe that opened in the south called La Maripili Churreria. It’s so new that the first time we visited, they were still finishing some paint work on the other half of the cafe. We didn’t really mind and proceeded to order six of their chocolate covered churros just because. Flavors: dark chocolate, white chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry and mango — they were all delicious. But I’m a hardcore white chocolate type of girl, so that was obviously my favorite. Hazelnut was Gab’s. We decided to return another day bringing along all our work stuff with us for a work lunch date. I ordered myself the French Melt […]

Life Lately: Where Have I Been?

It’s a gloomy Friday. I’ve spent majority of my morning in bed under my sheets, just casually reading through s/AskReddit on my iPhone, only getting up for some breakfast. I had a bowl of vanilla flavored granola cereal with soy milk, both of which I bought from Healthy Options for a ridiculous price, just to see if a healthier breakfast, despite how expensive, will affect the way I feel the rest of the day. I’m currently trying to figure out the best diet for me — fruits? meats? no carbs? veggies? it all depends on what my body responds to and what makes me feel more energized throughout the day. I’ve been MIA on my blog for quite some time now, and I’m fully aware of this. Life has been kind of weird lately, and feeling out of funk with blogging is not entirely new to me, but the past few weeks it’s like I never loved blogging in the first place. It’s weird. This morning, I decided to just open up my blog and write something, anything. I then realized that maybe it was time for another Life Lately post, just to keep you guys up to speed with what’s been […]

Photo Diary: The Fox & Bear Escape the City with Chevrolet Sail

Being both freelancers, Gab and I used to spend all our time together. It was easily achievable, between blog work and other social events — you could say it was an ideal situation being able to balance it all so effortlessly. But real life gets in the way sometimes, and the past 2 months have been incredibly full with Gab filming a new TV show (and soon will be shooting a movie) while I decided to continue with French classes, which easily take up half my entire week, and aside from that I’ve got work stuff going on too. When Gab and I both have our weekends free, we take every opportunity we can to spend time together, have a nice little date, maybe a movie. A few weeks ago, Chevrolet informed us they were interested in lending us the Chevrolet Sail for a few days to do a test drive. Of course, we said yes. He was into cars and loved driving them, and I was into car rides and going places — it was a win/win situation for everyone. Originally, we were going to take the car to drive to Subic for Gab’s work but if there’s one thing […]

Daily Life Through My Huawei P9 Leica Lens

I have to admit that I’m prone to falling into routines that eventually drive me a little bit crazy. Routines that last a month or two eventually become boring and loathsome to me; my blog name “Wild Spirit” isn’t just a name I picked out of no where, it’s two words put together that identifies me as a person. I am in need of constant change, be it big or small, and while that sounds like a good thing I see it as something that’s also my weakness. I dislike that I can be someone who can easily leave things behind, I can be flakey and indecisive, and sometimes my “wild spirit” is what causes strains in my personal life/friendships. It’s something I’m trying to work on. Routines may get boring to me sometimes, but I’m reminded that stability is healthy. It helps me stay focused, disciplined and it actually gets me more productive. Since July, I’ve had a solid routine that’s involved five main things: me time (lots of it), French classes, time with Gab, doing some work and socialising with friends — quite honestly it’s one of the happiest I’ve been. Notice how being online isn’t even on […]

Life Lately: Plans & Some (Minor) Changes

It’s no secret that I’ve been slowly moving away from blogging regularly and entering a new platform in documenting my life, which is YouTube. But here’s what’s been up in life lately: YouTube content creating and finally slowly getting through my travel vlogs. I’m the worst. It’s been a year! Seeing more of my friends and socializing… something I rarely do as an INFP Birthday dinner with Jeline, whom I forget is like a baby sister to me. She’s just way mature for her age it amazes me lol Eating a fancy dinner (Nikei Cuisine) at Shangri-La The Fort, thanks to Aly Been eating so much I actually did gain lots of weight Gab’s non-existent no-shave November — that photo above is the last I had with his beard /tears Been feeling the vibe of different eras lately — mostly 70’s and 90’s. What a jump though. Making plans for my vacation this December with Gab Working with great brands (I seriously have been loving the products I’ve been getting from Cabin Zero/Elecom. So useful for travels)   Confession time: I’m getting a bit bored of blogging. I probably should apologize, but I’m not really sorry. Blogging has been in […]
